1980s

Heidi (Botterbusch) Gile ’83 shares, “My husband and I still live in Maine, however we are hoping to move to Washington state before the year is over.  We might be able to connect with more former CCIer's then!” (5/14)

Robert Wallace ’87 and Mitzi (Loer) Wallace ’87 have been married over 23 years.  Their oldest daughter, Brooke (18) will graduate from Woodbridge High School this June, has been active in Color Guard, JCL, Girl Scouts and Assisteens, and will attend UCI in the fall.  Alexa (15) is a freshman at Woodbridge High, where she plays on the volleyball team, is also active with Assisteens and Girl Scouts.  Alexa, Mitzi and Brooke teach Sunday school at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irvine.  Robert, an attorney practicing transactional real estate with Stuart Kane LLP in Newport Beach, is recovering from ACL replacement surgery in February, is back on his mountain bike and is looking forward to again playing tennis and surfing soon.  (5/14)


1990s

Bruce Boehne MA ‘93 will be taking his 8th grade class from Zion Lutheran School, Dallas, TX on a tour of Concordia as part of their annual class trip Friday, May 2. 
They will be spending the week in Southern California staying at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Orange. (5/14)

After being in Modesto for 13 years, this summer, Heidi (Dietrich) De la Motte ’93 accepted a call to be preschool director at Children of Our Savior Preschool, the preschool of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Westchester, CA.  Following the move, Ryan De la Motte ’93 joined the Concordia University team in the Development Office.  Their daughters, Kaylee, 14 and Jillian, 11, attend Ascension Lutheran School in Torrance.  In the fall, Kaylee will move to Pacific Lutheran High School.  *PHOTO* (5/14)

Tim Merritt '94 and Luba (Leschnik) Merritt  have been married over  23  years and are proud to announce the graduation of their eldest son Timothy Jr. this coming June.  Tim Sr. currently serves as Headmaster of Faith Lutheran School in Plano, TX, where he also teaches in the high school.  We have been there 16 years.  In addition to Timothy, we have a freshmen Paul, an 8th grader Phillip, and a 5th grader John. Elizabeth Cottrell ’96 is experiencing lots of change and she is glad that God is in control of it all!  She is finishing her final year teaching at Messiah Lutheran Classical Academy in Keller, Texas. She’s been at MLCA for seven years and is looking forward to seeing where she'll land next.  June will find her moving back to California (Redondo Beach), and she will be getting married in July. She shares, “I'm thrilled to be welcomed with open arms into a new family-God is good.  My sassy pooch Lulu will be coming along, of course.  It will be nice to be near campus again, and I am looking forward to bumping into friends and acquaintances in the coming months.” (5/14)

Joel Oesch ’97 and Tiffany Oesch were blessed with the birth of their second child Faye Oesch in November. (4/14)

Laurie (Leistico) Hofman ’99, MA.Ed. ’05 went on to complete her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership/Curriculum & Instruction in 2012 and began teaching online for Concordia Portland, and on-campus for Concordia Chicago, while also serving as full-time head principal of a Preschool - 8th grade Lutheran School. This summer, she will step down from the principal position as she and her husband, Michael, prepare to welcome their first child in October. (5/14)

2000s

Bernadette Marcy ’02 is newly employed with the Law Firm of Seastrom & Seastrom in Newport Beach. The firm is regularly recognized by peer review organizations as one of California's preeminent family law firms. (5/14)

Jill (Gredvig) Swisher ’04 and Jon Swisher were blessed with the birth of their daughter Claire Swisher in November. (4/14)

Paul Kranich ‘06 is completing his Game Design program at DigiPen and was hired on for a level design internship with Nintendo in February 2014. (5/14)

Sarah (Cusson) Berta-Somogyi '07, M.Ed. '11, and her husband, Tamas Berta-Somogyi, are proud to announce the birth of their first child, little Lili Jane who was born in April. Sarah has been serving as an LCMS missionary in Gyor, Hungary, for the past 6 years, and her husband, Tamas, is a history teacher. They thank the Lord for a healthy little girl and pray for His help and blessings. *PHOTO* (5/14)

Peter Knutson '07 is in his 3rd year of studies at Concordia Theological Seminary. He is currently serving his vicarage at Grace Lutheran Church in Santa Maria, CA. He will complete his vicarage sometime in July and we will move back to Fort Wayne, IN so that he can finish his 4th year at Seminary. Peter Knutson is married to Nicole (Larsen) Knutson '04. They have 2 children- Lorelei (4) and Chandler (18 months). *PHOTO* (5/14)

Laura Meredith '07 has been working in animation film production since graduation. She started at Sony Animation but has since moved on to Disney Animation Studios and works as a production coordinator. This past year she had the great pleasure of working on a feature film: Frozen. Disney's Frozen has gone on to make over 1 billion dollars worldwide and won 2 Academy Awards, including Disney Animation's first ever Best Animated Film Oscar. Laura is very grateful for the opportunities and blessed to have received a wonderful art education from Concordia. *PHOTO* (4/14)

Brandi Kranich ’08 has gone back to school to become a Certified Behavior Analyst so she can be a behavioral therapist for children with special needs in the private sector. She has also started an at-home business as a Wellness Advocate with doTERRA.

Matthew Meyer ’08 recently moved to Idaho and is working as a business manager for Silver Creek Press.  In his position, he runs and operates this small business and is responsible for everything from IT to online marketing, filling orders, sales, and customer support.  He wears many hats and finds his position challenging and engaging. Yet, he says he wouldn't have it any other way! (5/14)


2010s

Karen Carney ’10 is getting married to Glen Worthington in July 2014! She serves as the Director of Marketing at Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, California. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! (5/14)

Andrew Parker’10 graduated from Chapman University in January 2013 with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and is working as a therapist for Orange County Mental Health in Westminster PACT, or Program for Assertive Community Treatment. Andrew works on a team with other therapists, social workers, a nurse, and a psychiatrist to provide treatment to the severely mentally ill and is still active at Concordia with the Master Chorale and the Jazz Combo! Richard Ransom ’11 and Stefanie Ransom were blessed with the birth their daughter Sadie Gwendolyn Ransom in March. (4/14)

 

Elizabeth Bragagnini '13 shares, “I am happy to announce that my oldest son, Bradley S. Benavidez became an Eagle Scout, March 2014. We are truly proud of his accomplishments within scouting, our community and our parish. We hope that his brothers, Jeremy and Aaron, follow in his footsteps and continue in the tradition of service to others.” (5/14)
